Biography
Early life
Koli grew up in Thane, Maharashtra, where her father runs a restaurant. She studied at Vasant Vihar High School and took a degree in mass media from V. G. Vaze College in Mulund, then interned as a radio jockey at Fever 104 FM in Mumbai.
MostlySane
She launched MostlySane in February 2015 with comic sketches about family, friendship and everyday life, often playing several characters. In 2019 YouTube’s chief executive Susan Wojcicki chose Koli’s Real Talk Tuesday series for her first interview with an Indian creator. Koli has used her platform for causes including mental health and climate action, and was named the UN Development Programme’s first Indian Youth Climate Champion.
Acting
She starred as Dimple Ahuja in the Netflix series Mismatched from 2020, appeared in the Dharma Productions film Jugjugg Jeeyo (2022) and the mystery Neeyat (2023) with Vidya Balan, and in 2025 starred in Single Papa and the Prime Video horror series Andhera. She also made her Marathi film debut with Krantijyoti Vidyalay Marathi Madhyam.
Author and recognition
Her debut novel, Too Good to Be True, was published in 2023. In July 2025 she became the first Indian creator featured on the TIME100 Creators list. She married her long-time partner, lawyer Vrishank Khanal, in February 2025.
Advocacy and influence
Koli has used her reach to talk about mental health, body image, cyberbullying and climate change, and has worked with UN agencies on youth campaigns. As one of the first Indian women to build a large YouTube following, she is often cited as a role model for young women creators, and her transition into mainstream streaming and film roles helped show that digital creators could cross over into traditional entertainment.
